Sell Up: Turning Pressure into Purpose with Brian Mayoral
What if selling wasn’t about pressure — but purpose?
In this week’s episode of Be the Giraffe, I sit down with Brian Mayoral, a former schoolteacher who traded gym whistles for growth seminars, and eventually became Tony Robbins’ #1 national speaker and peak performance strategist. Now, as the founder of Sell Up, Brian is helping companies and individuals move from pressure-based selling to purpose-driven influence — and his clients have already seen more than $14 million in new sales as a result.
But beyond the numbers, Brian’s story is one of courage, humility, and love — and how those three things can transform not just your business, but your life.
From Classroom to Stage
Before he was inspiring executives, Brian was a health and PE teacher who, like many of us, was doing what others expected of him. He grew up in a family of teachers and public servants, and following that path seemed safe — until it didn’t.
One afternoon, he found himself lying in bed, scrolling through SportsCenter, feeling completely lost. That moment — quiet, dark, and uncomfortable — became his turning point.

“For the first time in my life, I was scared of my own thoughts,” Brian says. “And I vowed that day that I would never let life control me again.”
That vow led him to Tony Robbins’ world, where he gave over 850 speeches in three and a half years, learned the psychology of influence, and discovered that growth begins where comfort ends.
The Destination Must Be Greater Than Your Circumstances
Brian shared one of the most powerful insights I’ve ever heard on this show:
“The destination has to be greater than your current circumstances.”
Most of us know what it’s like to feel stuck — in a job, a relationship, or a version of ourselves that no longer fits. Brian reminds us that change doesn’t start with perfect plans; it starts with faith. He didn’t wait for everything to make sense — he bought the ticket, showed up, and kept showing up, even when it was uncomfortable.
“If I don’t feel uncomfortable,” he told me, “then I’m probably doing something wrong.”
That willingness to feel the fear — and move anyway — became his formula for impact.
Love Is the Secret Weapon

When I asked Brian what drives him, his answer was one word: love.
“If there’s one through line that’s led to our success,” he said, “it’s love. We love the people we serve. We love the people we work with.”
In a world obsessed with automation, he’s bringing humanity back into business — proving that genuine care creates not just customers, but transformation.
One story hit me hard: a client with only three years to live wanted to spend her savings on one final vacation. Instead of letting the sale go, Brian’s team helped her make a decision that gave her family a life-changing experience.
“It’s not about closing deals,” Brian said. “It’s about opening hearts.”
The Ironic Giraffe

Brian’s journey is the perfect metaphor for Be the Giraffe. He started as a teacher helping people grow, left that world to chase something different, and ended up… helping people grow again — just on a higher level.
He reminded me — and everyone watching — that our greatest setbacks often become the soil for our next season of growth. Every painful moment, every “no,” every lonely decision outside the herd is preparing us for something we can’t yet see.
As I said to Brian on the show:
“You can’t be one of the guys and have ten times more than everybody else. People want to be outliers, but they’re afraid of becoming outcasts.”
Brian’s story shows us what happens when you choose to stand tall anyway.
Be the Giraffe Lesson
The pain you feel today can be the propellant for your next breakthrough.
You don’t need to know the industry; you need to know people.
Love and integrity scale faster than fear and pressure.
Every step outside your comfort zone stretches your neck higher.
